Join us at Forest Glen at Highland Lake as an Explorer and immerse yourself in our growing, welcoming community. As an Explorer, you’ll have the opportunity to attend workshops, social events, and participate in the exciting process of shaping our future together. For your Explorer membership, you’ll receive access to Forest Glen documents, the chance to attend all General Meetings as an observer, and the opportunity to engage in discussions at times designated by the meeting facilitator. You’ll also be paired with a Buddy to answer any questions.

The membership fee is a one-time, non-refundable $150, which can be applied to the next level of membership. After a minimum of 2 months, if you feel aligned with our vision and values, you may transition to Equity membership level, taking a more active role in our journey.

As an Equity Member of Forest Glen at Highland Lake, you will play a key role in bringing our community to life. This membership level allows you to contribute to decision-making, actively shape the future of our shared spaces, and participate in the design and development of the community. You will also have the opportunity to choose your home as the community takes shape.

To become an Equity Member, you must align with our mission and values, participate in at least two General Business Meetings, and engage in Work Circles as you're able. Ongoing training in Sociocracy and community-building skills is encouraged, and we ask that you document your financial readiness to purchase a home.

As an Equity Member, you will contribute a percentage of your home's final price early in the project to help fund the purchase of the land, feasibility studies, and the early stages of the project, until financing can be secured. You’ll fully commit to purchasing your home, actively participate in meetings, and share your experience as a Buddy to new Explorers. Equity Members have decision-making rights, housing selection seniority based on their membership contribution, and the ability to influence the community's design and development.

In our community-led approach, future residents play an important role in guiding development decisions, supported by professionals. Cohousing often results in higher-quality, more sustainable homes compared to traditional developments. As founding members, you'll not only help create your own home, but also contribute to building a vibrant community with shared spaces and lasting connections.
